(1899-1950) UK author of three satirical fantasies. Strange News from Heaven (1934) offers a farcical account of a rebellion in a Heaven where only those who died young retain their youth. Spirits Under Proof (1935; vt Authors in Paradise US) tracks the career of a medium who passes off the posthumous literary endeavours of the late and great as his own. The Passionate Astrologer (1936) describes what follows when a lovestruck Angel allows pages from the book of destiny to fall into earthly hands. [BS]
